Products are the foundation of your MeTEY system - representing the materials, shapes, sizes, and specifications you buy and sell.
Searching for Products
1 Access Product Search
Click "Products" in the left sidebar menu.
2 Search Options
You can search by:
- Product ID or Description: Enter product code or name
- Material: Select from dropdown (e.g., Steel, Aluminum)
- Shape: Select from dropdown (e.g., Round, Square, Angle)
- Grade: Select from dropdown (filtered by material)
- Sizes: Enter specific size1, size2, or size3 values
3 Filter Options
- "Only show items in stock": Shows only products with inventory > 0
- Leave all fields empty to see all products
- Results are limited to 100 products
4 Search Results
Results are sorted by: Material â Shape â Grade â Size1 â Size2 â Size3
Click any row to view full product details.
Creating a New Product
âšī¸ Required Information
To create a new product, you MUST provide:
- Product ID (unique identifier)
- Description
- Material
- Size 1 (numeric value)
- Unit (from dropdown)
- Lbs per Ft/Unit (weight calculation)
- Kerf (cutting allowance)
- Sell From (pricing method, e.g., AVGCOST)
- Min Size Before Scrap
1 Start New Product
Click the "â New Product" button at the top of the product search page.
2 Product Information
- Product ID: Unique alphanumeric code (required)
- Stock Item: Automatically checked and non-interactive
- Tagged: Automatically unchecked and non-interactive
- Description: Full product description (required)
- Material: Select from dropdown (required)
- Shape: Select from dropdown (optional)
- Grade: Select from dropdown - options filtered by material (optional)
3 Size and Dimensions
Sizes: Enter up to 3 size dimensions (Size 1 is required)
- All size fields support 4 decimal places (0.0001 precision)
- Size 1 must be greater than 0
- Sizes 2 and 3 are optional
- Example: For a 2" x 4" beam, enter Size 1: 2, Size 2: 4
4 Units and Weights
- Unit: Primary selling unit (inch, ft, lbs, etc.) - dropdown
- Secondary Unit: Optional alternate unit
- Lbs per Ft/Unit: Weight per unit (4 decimal precision, required)
- Kerf: Cutting allowance in inches (4 decimal precision, required)
5 Pricing and Operations
- Sell From: Pricing method (e.g., AVGCOST, LASTCOST) - required
- Min Size Before Scrap: Minimum usable length (required)
- Show Cost: Checkbox - display cost on documents
- Popup Message: Special notes that appear when selecting product
6 Inventory Settings
- Min Unit: Minimum inventory level for reorder alerts
- Max Unit: Maximum inventory level
- Fix Selling Price: Fixed price override (if applicable)
7 Save Product
Click "Create Product". The product will be saved and the search results refreshed.
Viewing Product Details
When you click on a product from search results, you'll see:
- Header: Product ID with status badges (Stock Item, Tagged) in top right
- Product Information: ID, description, material, shape, grade, sizes
- Units & Measurements: Unit, secondary unit, lbs per ft/unit, kerf
- Operations: Sell from, min size before scrap, show cost, popup message
- Inventory: Current stock levels and location
- Hamburger Menu (â°): Quick access to all product actions
Product Actions Menu (â°)
The hamburger menu in product detail provides quick access to:
- âī¸ Edit: Modify product information (requires product edit permission)
- Open Quotes or Orders: Opens QOI search with automatic filtering for this product
- Open Purchase Orders: Opens PO search filtered for this product
- Statistics: Product analytics and trends
- Inventory Audit: Complete inventory change history
- Adjust Inventory: Manually adjust stock levels
đĄ Smart Navigation
When you click "Open Quotes or Orders" or "Open Purchase Orders", the system:
- Automatically navigates to the QOI or PO search page
- Pre-fills the product code filter
- Sets appropriate status filters
- Executes the search automatically
- Shows filtered results immediately
